Breaking News – ARNS announcement
The Association of Nurse Specialists was established 26 years ago to support respiratory nurses, predominantly working as specialists within secondary care. During that time, we have encouraged early years bursaries for nurses to complete a respiratory course to develop into the specialists of the future and continuously encouraged nurses working in respiratory care to join the association to be able to learn and contribute with peers. As the NHS landscape has changed, so also have the roles that we undertake and where respiratory care is undertaken.
Following feedback from nurses, who felt that they weren’t specialist’s, due to their workplace location and therefore, felt excluded from our membership, we have decided it would be beneficial to make a small change to our name.
Although we will still be known and referred to as ARNS, this will now be the abbreviation for the Association of Respiratory Nurses. We are confident this will encourage nurses from all aspects of respiratory care to join the association and benefit patient care and career development for the future.
