Nursing Times Award Winners 2014
Last night saw the annual Nursing Times Award ceremony where ARNS is incredibly honoured to support the Respiratory Category. After a great round of judging which included our Chair, Vice-Chair and Nursing Times lead, the winner of the respiratory category was announced as the Asthma Nursing Team from Guys and St Thomas for their innovative asthma patient passport; a patient-held record containing clinical and demographic information to facilitate timely access to emergency services’. Vice-Chair Matthew Hodson said ‘This year it was incredibly hard. There were some truly inspiring projects and nurses of which all finalists should be very proud. However, the winning asthma project demonstrated that patients can truly be in the centre of their own health, ensuring that at time of acute care, patients have the appropriate and prompt treatment needed, which this plan has enabled’.
It was an amazing night led wonderfully by the Editor of NT, Jenni Middleton, who opened the awards stating ‘special is a word to describe nurses’ and we agree, the awards were certainly that, a special night. Congratulations to all the winners and Finalists from all at ARNS.
Our very own ARNS Executive Committee member, Wendy Preston, was also honoured last night at the Awards, as she and her team picked up one of the most prestigious awards, Team of the Year. Wendy, a Consultant Nurse, and her team won the award for their work in Ambulatory Care and acute admissions at the George Eliot Hospital. All at ARNS would like to congratulate Wendy and her team. ARNS Chair Becky Sherrington said ‘We are all so proud of Wendy, she is inspiring nurse and talented team leader. We were really pleased that her team were rewarded for their work by winning this prestigious nursing award’
