Respiratory Surge in Children programme
As many of you are already aware there has been a huge increase of babies, children and young people suffering with respiratory viruses since August, many healthcare provider settings are reporting current numbers of paediatric admissions or those accessing unplanned or emergency health care is that similar to peak winter pressure admissions.
Unfortunately these numbers are set to increase in the coming months. So should you find yourself needing new skills or even need a way of updating your skills then The Respiratory Surge in Children programme is a useful. Produced by Health Education, supported by NHS England and NHS Improvement Paediatric Critical Care Operational Delivery Networks and the Paediatric Critical Care Society, is appropriate for various settings where a child will present with respiratory illness.
Another useful resource is a useful tool for carers/parents that can be shared/ displayed by health professionals. This was funded by Barnardo’s but has had many health professional inputting and advising It went live on their BOLOH website recently.
(Just for a bit of background Boloh was set up in Oct 2020 with funding from the National Emergencies Trust to provide culturally informed signposting, advice and therapeutic support for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic children, young people and families affected by the pandemic).
