NIHR Nursing and Midwifery Senior Research Leader Programme Applications Now Open

As part of NIHR Nursing and Midwifery’s commitment to promote research inclusion and foster a vibrant, inclusive, and integrated nursing and midwifery research culture, we are proud to announce applications for the Senior Research Leader (SRL) Programme for Nurses and Midwives are now open.

Following the success of the first two years, we are keen to expand our reach and invite more exceptional senior nurses and midwives to join the programme.

The SRL Programme aims to empower nurses and midwives by unlocking their research potential and enabling them to play a crucial role in shaping and embedding a research active culture within their organisations and beyond. The programme provides funding for 2 days per week at an Agenda for Change Band 8b and the programme is open to all Nurses and Midwives in England who have experience in research leadership in health or social care at a local and/or regional level.

We are particularly keen on welcoming individuals from diverse health and social care backgrounds who possess strong research leadership and networking skills, as well as innovative perspectives. Our aim is to increase research capacity and capability across the research system hence we particularly encourage applications from those in:

• Community Care
• Dental Nurses
• Mental Health
• Midwifery
• Learning Disabilities
• Primary Care
• Public Health
• Rural and Coastal Communities
• Social Care

Successful applicants will have the unique opportunity to inspire and empower fellow nurses and midwives to actively support, deliver, and lead research initiatives that contribute to enhancing patient care. As an SRL, you will work closely with the NIHR Nursing and Midwifery team, receiving guidance and support as you build research capacity and capability within your organisation. To find out more about being an SRL you can read about Tracey Long, Health Visitor, Donna Clements, Clinical Research Nurse, Dr Oladayo Bifarin, Research Effectiveness Lead and Chloe O’Hara, Lead Research Midwife, experiences on the programme.

We also will be hosting webinars aimed at those from our targeted settings and provide an opportunity to hear from some our current SRLs on the programme. To register click on the links below:
