2020 Nursing Times Respiratory Nursing award winner – Gloucestershire Hospitals NHSFT

Katy Beckford, the Chair of ARNS, announced that Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have won the 2020 Nursing Times Respiratory Nursing award with their Yellow Lanyard project.

The lanyards were worn by clinicians, during the pandemic, to highlight respiratory skills with additional expertise. This allowed staff to quickly identify this much needed skill set. They provided support, training and expertise throughout the pandemic.  They also created an online learning package for non-respiratory nurses and clinicians, shared with more than 50 other trusts, viewed more than 100,000 times.

The judges said: “This is a very simple and effective idea, which can be easily transferrable throughout other trusts.”  They felt that this “was a rapid and smart initiative which demonstrated high impact while also being cost effective.”

Well done to Emily and her team from all at ARNS.
