The annual #AskAboutAsthma awareness campaign which returns for its eighth year from September 9-15, led by the NHS England – London’s Babies, Children and Young People Programme.
#AskAboutAsthma is an annual awareness campaign led by NHS England – London. 2024’s campaign week runs from 9-15 September, and they want to help children and young people with asthma, and their families and carers to understand how to manage their condition and help them live their best lives. Asthma should not limit children and young people in any way and ensuring good asthma control enables this. Primary care, GPs and nurses can play an important part in supporting young people with Asthma by talking to their young patients with asthma and their families about their asthma care, helping them to understand that asthma is a chronic condition and can be managed with the four asks – having an asthma plan, attending a regular asthma review, using inhalers properly and knowing how air pollution affects them.
Practices can also display the #AskAboutAsthma campaign poster in reception areas to encourage patients and parents/carers to speak to their GP, nurse or pharmacist if they need help managing their asthma. Also see the spotting signs of asthma poster to help families understand if their child might have asthma and should be assessed.
