The Association of Respiratory Nurses (ARNS) was established in 1997 as a nursing forum to champion the specialty respiratory nursing community, promote excellence in practice, and influence respiratory health policy. ARNS also works to influence the direction of respiratory nursing care.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Lead applicant must be a current ARNS member (Full or Associate) for at least 6 months.
Maximum of one application per year. Priority may be given to applicants who have not applied previously.
What does the research grant offer?
- Up to £12,000 for a small research project
- Research grants will be awarded in April of each year
- No ‘top-ups’ or extensions are available for any reason
- The maximum duration of the award is 18 months (although this may be extended by negotiation where there are issues around flexible working or career breaks/maternity leave)
- Successful awards must be activated within 12 months from receipt of letter providing details of funding
Reporting requirements if successful:
- Quarterly reports on progress
- Final report on project end
- Submission of abstract to ARNS conference

Funding payments made: September 2024
Grant submissions will be reviewed by the Research and Education committee and the ARNS Executive Board.
