Alison Hughes
Chair of ARNS
"It has been an extremely demanding time for respiratory nurses and as the Year of The Nurse ends, leadership has never been so important. I feel, now more than ever, that it is a great honour and privilege to become the Chair of the Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists.
My love for respiratory nursing began in 2001 after I completed my asthma diploma where I was taught and mentored by Chris Fehrenbach, who founded ARNS in 1997. Little did I know then that I would become an ARNS committee member in 2016 and then follow in her footsteps as Chair.
Respiratory Nurses have never been so needed and I am very proud to be chairing an organisation that ‘Inspire’, ‘Lead’ and ‘Empower’ our membership.
Throughout my tenue as Chair, I hope to continue to lead the organisation with the passion of past Chairs and strive for the organisation to be representative of the voice of all respiratory nurses."
ARNS are honoured to be supporting the Nursing Times Respiratory Nursing award.
Alison Hughes, the Chair of ARNS, announced that Manchester University Foundation Trust have won the 2021 Nursing Times Respiratory Nursing award.
